The Demons strong start to the season has continued as the Lions forfeited the game on Saturday. This means that the Demons are the only unbeaten team in the league at the half way point of the season. A win on Saturday against the Swans will almost certainly guarantee that the Demons will take the 2009 minor premiership and therefore ensure we are in the 2009 Grand Final.
Just a reminder for all players to get their tickets for the Monster of Rock gig on Saturday night - contact Joe Cunnane to get your tickets.
Big game Saturday lads against the swans - we need everyone at training during the week to ensure that we a fully prepared for the game.
Hello fellow Demons,
I’d like to take the opportunity to congratulate Big Dee and Leanne on getting married last month. Dee has been a main stay of the Demons club for the last number of years and has been the president, assistance coach, physio, go to guy and all round gent. Fair play Dee, welcome to the married gang.
I would also like to say well done on the victories since my last address. 2 hard fought games, even if the score line did not tell the true story. Our next game is scheduled for Saturday 13th here in Dublin. It is against the Lions (a refixture from May) and is a must win game. If we can win this one, it will give us a great opportunity to be at the top of the ladder come September and a chance to go straight to the grand final. We would encourage everyone to be available for this game if possible. We will have training on Wednesday as usual and need a full turn out.
The game will precede a national training session, so Cork will have a very squad up with them. Even still, if we have our strongest squad out, I have no doubt that we should win.
Amidst the balmy breeze and the scorching sun, round 4 descended on Dublin in what turned out to be a fiercely contested game. The Demons knew that this was a game that must be won, but nobody told that to the Saints.
The Demon backline was under the kosh from the first ball up, but for trojan work in the centre, the score could have been a lot worse. A few early scores settled the Demons and set the tone for the game. Big tackles and assured shepherding were the 1%ers that made the difference.
The Dublin Demons Aussie Rules football club would like to extend our Congratulations and Best Wishes to Diarmuid and Leanne who are getting married tomorrow (May 15th, 2009) in Galway. We hope that they have a great day and that the weather holds - although it is Galway!!!
Diramuid has been playing with the Demons for many a long year and has held down many positions in the club including president and assistant coach. We wish him all the luck in his new role as Husband....
The upcoming match against the lions this weekend has been postponed by request of the Leeside Lions. Brian "Stretch" O'Connell is getting married this Saturday and the majority of the Lions team has been invited to the wedding - Demons players are still waiting for an invite!!!
As always the Demons are happy to oblige a genuine request and this game will be rescheduled at a later date.

The Dublin Demons would like to extend our congratulations to our former club captain, Ciarán "Bluey" Drummey who just announced his engagement to the beautiful Martha Minguez.
We wish them all the best now and for the future and we look forward to big session in Barcelona in the near future!
Midland Tigers 07.10 (52) vs. Dublin Demons 16.12 (108)
The Dublin demons continued their good start to the season with an away win to the Midland Tigers, in sunny conditions, in Mullingar. The Demons brought plenty of numbers down the M4 and started the game with plenty of subs on the line. The game started in perfect conditions and the demons took full advantage to chalk up the first goal of the game within fifteen seconds. A great team move saw Bernie finish on the run to give the D’s an ideal start. Two more goals from Jarad and Jezza saw the Demons take a good lead to the quarter time break. The tigers got a major of their own when a wayward clearance gave them their first goal.

Hi Demons,
I would like to take the opportunity to give you all an update on the happenings of your club recently. I will try and make this a regular thing, once I have the news to report to you.
First on the agenda is a big welcome to all the new players for this season. This has been one of the best recruitment drives to date, so thank you to all who assisted in putting up flyers, posts on the web, handing out business cards to random punters, articles in local papers etc etc.
We have managed to bring in a lot of quality this year lads, so hopefully we can continue on last year’s success and retain the premiership this season. During the year of 2008 we lost a few old stalwarts and people came and went. There were a few of us that were apprehensive about how we would do, but that has all been put to rest now. I think we have got a great squad this season, and we also have strength in depth, which is relatively new to this team.
This brings me swiftly onto last weekend’s game. Well lads, all I can say I well done. That was a fantastic result against our most bitter rivals. We haven’t beaten them in the premiership since 2005. That’s a long losing streak, and it felt great to get one over them. I hope we can build on this result and push to win the flag again this season. Well done to all who turned up on the day, especially the new recruits picked up on the day. Lets hope they can continue to be part of this club.
South Dublin Swans 04.06 (30) vrs Dublin Demons 05.11 (41)
The Dublin Demons started the defence of their premiership title with a fine victory over the South Dublin Swans in Chanel College Coolock. It was the Demons first victory over the Swans in the league since 2005 and a victory that was long overdue.
The Demons arrived with a lot of new faces and even managed to recruit a number of local GAA players who were looking on in interest at the Saints vrs Tigers match. The Demons started off the game with the wind to their backs and quickly settled into a strong rhythm. Shannon stood up well in the ruck against the 7-foot tall, Swans ruckman and created a stable platform for the Demons to attack. With the aid of the wind the forward line we receiving a lot of ball and at the end of the quarter the demons lead by four goals and a few minors to no score. The goals came from both the demons stalwarts Big Joe and Dirk, and the new guns Jezza and Jarrath.
