Shannon McCoy won the Dublin Demons "Best Australian Player" at the awards night before xmas. As Shannon had already left these shores to continue his travels he was unable to attend the event. He was awarded the prize and all the players signed the trophy box with some messages for him. Here is his reply:
"Hey Fellas,
I just wanted to write an email to say thanks to everyone who wrote on the trophy box that I received in the mail a couple of weeks ago and for the trophy itself. It was a nice surprise as I had no idea I been awarded it and certainly would not expect too either. I saw a few of the presentation night photos posted on Facebook the other week and I'm disappointed I missed it.
It's been a busy couple of months since arriving back in Adelaide with work and Christmas, but I finally feel like I'm settling in again. I think I've drunk enough Australian beer in the past month to flush out most of the Guinness in the body. I might have to head to PJ's this weekend to top up again.
The two month trip around Europe was great and all went smoothly after the Grand Final, although it took me about a week and a half to get over the celebrations. I have to say playing for the Demons was an absolute highlight of living in Ireland and something I will always appreciate. I especially appreciated the effort that you guys put in to the organisation and running of the competition. I know it's not an easy job trying to find the players and keep the club running, but it's well worth the effort and you did a great job.
I haven't done so yet, but once I've gone through all of the Grand Final photos I'll post them up on the internet and send a link to everybody. I might even throw in the nude ones of Kruges at the after party.
My new mobile no. is [Edited: available on request] so if anyone is heading over this way be sure to get in contact, otherwise we'll no doubt catch up again in Ireland in the near future.
Cheers,
Shannon
